Scriptures of my very own!

Elizabeth has been asking for her very own scriptures for the past couple of weeks. I kept telling her that we would buy her some as soon as she was a little older. Well, at Church this week it was announced that the Bishopric and the Primary Presidency would like each of the Primary-aged kids to have their own scriptures to bring with them to church. The Primary President announced that they would be sponsoring a "scripture penny jar". Each week the children that bring their scriptures with them, will get to put a penny in the jar...and at the end of the year all those pennies will be used to purchase Books of Mormon for the missionaries.

Elizabeth turned to me and said, "Mommy, I need scriptures of my very own!" Needless to say, today we headed to the Church Distribution Center so that Elizabeth could get her very own Book of Mormon.

Elizabeth was so excited to be in the Distribution Center. She made sure that everyone we passed knew that she was there to get her very own scriptures. When we got to the aisle that had all of the Books of Mormon, Elizabeth studied each and every book until she decided which one was hers. She also fell in love with...and just had to have...a CTR ring and a photo of Jesus.

I love seeing her so excited at the Distribution Center. The huge smile on her face was priceless. She had so much pride in her eyes and she walked out of the store holding her new scriptures. However, my very favorite part of the day was when Matt came home from work and Elizabeth exclaimed, "Daddy, Look I got my very own Book of Worman!".

Valentine's Day at the Zoo

Since Matt had to work during the day, I decided to spend Valentine's Day with my little Valentines...at the Zoo. The weather has been nice...so we decided to get out and enjoy the sunshine.

I had such an amazing day. We walked the entire zoo, stopped at all of our favorite animal exhibits, and ate all our favorite snacks.

I am blessed with the most perfect little Valentines. I am so glad that I got to spend time with Elizabeth and Zachary. I love being their mommy...and I love each of them so much!

Valentine's Day Party

Elizabeth has been looking forward to today for quite some time now...It was her preschool Valentine's Day Party! Last week, when we took Elizabeth to pick out her valentines, she fell in love with this princess mailbox filled with princess valentines. As soon as she saw them, she knew that these were the valentines she wanted to hand out to each of her friends. After writing a little message and attaching a yummy treat...she was ready to go!

Elizabeth had such a great time at her party. They played games, ate treats, made a valentines holder, and shared their valentines with each other. Elizabeth received so many nice treats from all of her friends. She was so excited to come home and show all of her valentines to Daddy and Zachary.

I love my little girl so much and I am so glad that she gets to have these fun experiences. It always makes my heart so happy to see her light up with excitement and joy.

Zachary's Allergist Appointment

Today we met with Zachary's allergist, Dr. Broadbent. I have been looking forward to today because I was hoping that we could get some answers as to what is causing all of Zachary's skin rashes. We went over the results of Zachary's lab work and discussed some things that we should do to help Zachary's skin heal.

First the results....
  • Pecan   less than 0.10
  • Cashew   1.56
  • Almond   .35
  • Wheat   5.47
  • Soybean   .27
  • Peanut   13.60
  • Egg White   21.80
  • Sweet Potato   less than 0.10
  • Walnut   less than 0.10
  • Shrimp   less than 0.10
  • Banana   2.40

Basically, we are to strictly avoid cashews, peanuts, bananas, eggs, and milk. Other than that, we need to slowly introduce soy. Dr. Broadbent wants us to substitute soy milk into the recipes that we are cooking. Once we see how he does with that we can start to add more soy into his diet. The goal is to get him to be able to eat soy cheese, and to be able to drink soy milk.

As for his skin, we are to continue bathing him twice a day. When his skin is especially bad, we should resume the wet pajama/dry pajama regimen. Also, we got a couple new ointment to try. Hopefully one of these...or a combination of all of them, will help!

I am grateful to have some answers.
