So Badly Needed!

Six years ago, when we moved into our home, My grandma gave Matt and me her old dining room table and four chairs. We appreciated her graciousness and have been using the table and chairs ever since. As time went by, this poor little dining room set started to fall apart. First a chair broke, then the table cracked, then another chair broke..and then sadly another chair broke. At present, we are using an old office chair and two folding chairs to complete our dining room set. The fourth chair that came with the original set is still in use; however, we have Zachary's highchair strapped to it because we don't want too much weight on it, as the wheels have busted off and have been glued back on. Needless to say, we have needed a new dining room set for quite some time.

Today, we purchased a new dining room set during the Memorial Day sales. We looked at Furniture Row and RC Willey and actually fell-in-love with the same set at both stores. Since Furniture Row had the better price...that's where we bought it.

I am so excited for our new table, 8 chairs, and server. We will have to wait a couple of weeks since the table is on back order. Heck, we have waited this long...what is a couple more weeks. I cannot wait to have dinner parties where we don't have to ask everyone to bring their own chair!

Here is a photo of our new set from the Furniture Row advertisement. We didn't order the bench, as pictured, and opted for three more chairs instead. I will post of photo of the table, chairs, and server in our dining room once we receive all of the pieces!

Don't Fry Day!

Today, we headed to the Hogle Zoo for their "Don't Fry Day" event. This event was sponsored by the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention. We learned how to protect ourselves from the sun, while spending a fun day at the zoo!


As we arrived, we were stopped by a herd of geese that crossed our path. Elizabeth loved seeing them; however, Zachary did not seem thrilled. He kept glaring at them with the meanest look on his face. I am not sure why...but I don't think he liked them.


First we stopped off at the monkeys. It was a nice cool, cloudy day so they were out playing and climbing. It was great to see them up-close.


This time, we decided to take a different path then we usually do and we got to see a lot of animals that we usually don't. We were able to see the camels, a bunch of colorful birds, and the gorillas.


For some reason, the elephants were gone...but we did get to see the giraffes and the rhinoceroses. All of the animals were out-and-about running around. It was fun to watch them.


Elizabeth and Zachary always have such a fun time at the zoo. They love looking at all of the different animals, getting a snack, and soaking up the sunshine.


Elizabeth doesn't usually ask to go to the playground, but today she really wanted to go. She begged and begged and even chose the playground over a train ride. Since she wanted to go so badly, we headed over to the playground to let her jump...and run...and swing...and slide...and climb to her little heart's content.


Since the playground was kinda crowded, Zachary and I stayed on the sidelines and watched...while we ate animal cookies!


Today was another fun-filled day at the zoo. I honestly think that we could go to the zoo every day and the kids would never get sick of it! We are so lucky to have a beautiful zoo so close!

Spring Fling at Kamille's

Yesterday I was able to attend the Spring Fling Event at Kamille's in Gardner Village. I always love when I can sneak away for a couple of hours to spend time with friends...and knit! During the event, Kamille unveiled a mystery project that we all worked on together. It was fun to listen to every one's guesses about what they thought the project would be.

A few rows in someone guessed that it was a scarf and we all raced to see who could get farther along to reveal more of the project. I was excited to learn the wrap-and-turn (w&t) technique in knitting. This was my first time doing a wrap-and-turn and I love the way it looks. 

Here is a photo of my finished project. It took me a couple of weeks to get it completely done. I am really happy with how it turned out!

Lamb & Wool Festival

Today we headed to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point for the Lamb & Wool Festival. As we arrived, Zachary took one look at all of the animals and got so excited. He kicked his feet, pointed, and babbled at them. I have never seen him so excited. He had a huge grin on his face the entire time we were there!

Seriously, have you seen a bigger smile? He was smiling so big that his started to look a little crazy!


Elizabeth was happy to be at Farm Country too! She loves the ponies and the little playhouses.

We spent quite a lot of time walking through and looking at the animals because Zachary absolutely loved it! We saw ponies, horses, goats, alpacas, ducks, chickens, bunnies, and sheep.

These cute little goats were Elizabeth's favorites. She thought that they looked like cows and loved that they were snuggling!

As we walked through the grounds, we learned about Solar Wool Dying with Kool-Aid, Elizabeth made a wool bracelet, we watched spinning and weaving demonstrations, and duck herding. Elizabeth was so interested in the wool shearing. She looked concerned at first, until I explained that it was not hurting the sheep...he was just getting a haircut.

Elizabeth also got to learn how to spin yarn.

We even got to watch a sheep dog demonstration. Zachary was mesmerized by the dog corralling all of the sheep.

Another favorite was the duck pond. There were lots of different kinds and colors of duck. Elizabeth would laugh so hard when one of them would dive under the water head-first with their little tail up in the air.

Elizabeth is one lucky girl and got to go on a pony ride before we left. All three of us got to go on a wagon ride too!

Can you tell that Elizabeth got to have a Popsicle as her yummy treat? I have no idea why (because we get a Popsicle every time we go and it's never done this) but today Elizabeth's mouth and lips turned bright red while eating her treat.

Before leaving, I HAD to shop all of the vendor booths. I really enjoyed looking at (and feeling) all of the different skeins of yarn. There were some beautiful colors and some really soft yarns!

As we were walking away, Zachary was wrenching his neck to try and see just a little more. I had no idea that he would enjoy the Farm Country so much. We'll definitely have to come back soon!

I had such a fun day with Elizabeth and Zachary. This event was so great because there was something for all of us to enjoy. I loved all the yarns, Zachary loved all of the animals, and Elizabeth loved the pony ride and wagon ride. Thanksgiving Point is really the perfect spot!

Utah Baby & Kidz Expo

Elizabeth, Zachary, and I attended the Utah Baby & Kidz Expo at the South Towne Expo Center. It was a lot of fun and the kids really seemed to love it! There were amusement areas, classes, character appearances, over 100 vendors, and a huge KIDZ play area.


Elizabeth was such a good girl and had lots of fun looking at all of the booths. She got a mask from a kids dental office.


And a balloon flower from a balloon artist.


We even found a booth that was selling Pillow Pets at a HUGE discount. Elizabeth has wanted one for so long and was so excited when I let her pick one out!


As we walked through all of the booths, Elizabeth received some fun prizes. She got some Kung Fu Panda 2 silly bandz bracelets, tons of candy, lots of stickers, a muscle man squeeze toy, and a coloring book with crayons.


As we came to an aisle of four-wheelers, Elizabeth's eyes lit up and she exclaimed, "I want one of these for my birthday!"


As usually, Zachary was a perfect little man. He enjoyed sitting in his stroller and looking at everything. As long as there were snacks around, he was a happy little guy.


As we were sitting on the sidelines, watching Elizabeth in all of the bouncy houses and slides, Zachary went a little crazy and started yelling. It was hilarious to watch and everyone around us was laughing. Zachary would yell, look around, and then start laughing. He loved all of the attention that he was getting. What a little nut!


As we were leaving, I asked Elizabeth what her favorite part was and she exclaimed, "The big slide!" She must have gone on the slide at least 20 times. I am glad that she had so much fun!


As an added bonus...I won a door prize. They called my name over the loud speaker and when I reported to the main booth, they presented me with a full-size Scentsy Candle Warmer and a Pear Apple Scent pack!
