Conversations with Zachary

Today I was helping my friend by watching her little boy while she went to a doctors appointment. As I answered the door to let my friend and her little boy in, Zachary exclaims, "Oh man. This really pisses me off. I wanted to be alone with you today!"

Zachary says the funniest and craziest things. Guess I need to plan some one-on-one time with him!

Days of the Week

Zachary loves going to preschool and is working so hard at learning his alphabet, shapes, numbers, and a bunch of other things. Today, as we were hanging out at home, Zachary started reciting the days of the week...

Monday...Tuesday...Wednesday...Thursday...Friday...Saturday...one day.

So cute!

Utah Grizzlies Game

Since there was no school today, I decided to surprise Elizabeth and Zachary and take them to an afternoon Utah Grizzlies Game. We have been to a couple of games in the past, but have not been to one for a while, so the kids were super-excited.

We had great seats. We were close to one of the goals and about 15 rows from the ice.

We even got to see a fight...which is always exciting!

Zachary just watched the game, while munching on all of the snacks I brought for him....and I mean all of the snacks. He seriously cleaned out every single container in the entire bag!

Here is our terrible attempt at a "selfie".

Man, I love these kids. I am so grateful to be their mom. I love that I get to spend my days with them. Elizabeth and Zachary are my world and it makes me so happy to be able to make fun memories with them.

Monster Jam

A couple of months ago, Matt and I saw a commercial for the Moster Jam event that was coming to the Energy Solutions Arena. Matt thought that Zachary would love seeing all of the huge trucks so he decided to get tickets. Zachary was so excited and has been counting down the days...and has been looking forward to some one-on-one time with Matt.

Seriously, Zachary looks so adorable in his earphones. They are almost bigger than his head!

Here are my two handsome boys at the show. Zachary seemed to really enjoy the show...as long as he had something to snack on. Matt said the show brought out the munchies in our little man. He cleaned out the bag of every treat that I packed!

The boys loved seeing the monster trucks go over the ramps and smash cars! The whole arena rumbled when the trucks reved their engines. It was really loud so they were grateful for the earphones.

Zachary says his favorite was the Scooby-Doo monster truck. Below is a fun video of some of the action.

I am so glad that my boys were able to go out and enjoy the afternoon together. It makes my heart so happy to see my kids enjoying all different kinds of activities and experiences, especially when they can do it with their dad!

Let's Party

Elizabeth and Zachary had Valentine's day parties in each of their classes. Thanks to my friend Debbie,  who watched Zachary, I was able to go and volunteer in Elizabeth's class. I loved being there to see all of the fun things that the teacher, and a parent-volunteer, had planned.

I was in charge of the 7-Up Float station. I filled each cup with vanilla ice cream and red Cherry 7-Up and gave each kiddo a red licorice to use as a straw! It was fun to hear all of the giggling and slurping. They were definitely all sugared up by them time they left my station!

The other stations included a bean bag toss game, Valentine B-I-N-G-O, and making a Valentine's day hat.

Once all the games were over, the kids lined up all of their valentine boxes and in assembly-line fashion, handed out each of their valentines.

Elizabeth picked out a little box of chocolates for her teacher. She even attached a little love note to the box when she thought I wasn't looking. So sweet!

Elizabeth was so excited to bring home her valentine box filled with love notes from all of her friends!

Zachary had a party at preschool today too! He got to play some games and make a Valentine's Day craft. He also created this fun treat holder and brought it home filled with yummy treats and notes from his friends.

I am so happy that both Elizabeth and Zachary had such a fun day. I can tell by the smiles on their faces that they feel so loved...which makes me one happy mama!

Preparing for Valentine's Day

We spent the afternoon and evening preparing for Zachary and Elizabeth's Valentine's Day Parties. The kids are so excited to give all of their friends little love notes. Seriously, kids make all holidays so much better!

This year Zachary picked out Ninja Turtle valentines and Ninja Turtle fruit snacks for his friends at preschool. I had so much fun helping Zachary write his name on each little note and then taping them to the fruit snacks.

He looked so grown-up holding his pencil and writing his name. When did my baby get so big?

Zachary picked out the cutest little purse for Miss Krista. He saw it while we were at Target and he would not leave the store without it. He kept saying, "But it is so little and she's gonna love it!" How do I say no to that!

Elizabeth worked on her valentines before she went to bed. She picked out Princess Dig 'n Dips. They are like Fun Dips but have a wand candy stick and purple glitter sugar candy.

Elizabeth did a great job of writing her name on each of the envelopes. She is getting so grown-up too. She didn't even need my help. I just sat and chatted with her while she did all of the work.

I love seeing my kids so happy. I am grateful for all of the fun experiences that my kids get to have. Both of them have really great teachers and lots of cute friends. We are truly blessed to have such great people in our lives.

Book Fair at Neil Armstrong Academy

This week was the annual Book Fair at Elizabeth's school. Elizabeth has always loved the Book Fair. Each year, she brings money from her money bank to buy books. This year she was able to get nine new books because Matt and I bought her a few and Grandma and Papa gave her money for a couple as well.

She picked the following books...

  • Ballet Stars
  • Snuggle Buddies
  • Pinkalicious and the Cupcake Calamity
  • Princesses and Puppies
  • Little Big Horse
  • The Royal Games
  • Tony Baloney Buddy Trouble
  • Barbie The Pearl Princess Magical Mermaid Adventures
  • Clara the Cookie Fairy
We are so proud of Elizabeth. She has worked really hard on learning to read this year. She is getting better and better each day. Matt and I were happy to reward her with a few new books. We hope that she continues to develop her love of reading.

Mommy-Daughter Date

Tonight Elizabeth and I had a mommy-daughter date. We started out by stopping by our favorite restaurant, Chick-fil-A.

Next, we headed to the Huntsman Center at the University of Utah for the Utes Gymnastics Meet. Elizabeth was impressed with all of the flips and tricks that the girls could do. She says when she is older she wants to do gymnastics too.

Before leaving we stopped at the gift shop so Elizabeth could pick a momento to help her remember our special time together. She picked a darling little bear wearing a Utah Utes sweatshirt.

Before heading home, we stopped at Culver's for some ice cream. Yummy!

It was so nice to be able to spend some one-on-one time with Elizabeth. Since she is in school all day long, I feel like I don't get as much time with her. I miss our days of hanging out and doing everything together. I love her so much and I am very grateful for the time that we had together tonight. Hopefully, we will be able to do these mommy-daughter dates more often.
