Zachary is growing and changing so much. Each day I am reminded that he is not a little baby anymore...he is a little boy!
One of my favorite new things that he just recently started is, he'll walk up to you and say,
"What doin?"

Union Pacific 150th Anniversary Party
Today I took Elizabeth and Zachary to the Union Pacific 150th Anniversary Party at the Union Pacific Station.
We have never been there so we were excited to go see what it was like...and hopefully learn some new things along the way! As we walked into the station, Governor Herbert was presenting the Union Pacific Railroad with an award. Elizabeth and Zachary were very good listeners during the Governor's speech.
As we walked in, Elizabeth immediately pointed to the beautiful stained glass windows. She was such a good sister and made sure to point them out to Zachary. She knew that he would love all of the pictures!
As we walked around the station, the kids collected a bunch of swag. They got paper hats, flashlights, flags, coloring books, whistles, and more!
Zachary only wanted a flag and a flashlight! I did convince him to wear a paper conductors hat! He looked stinkin' cute!
We got to see an art exhibit with lots of old photographs. It was interesting to see how much the land, and the trains, have changed in the past 150 years.
Elizabeth was so excited when we came across tables, and more tables, and even more tables, filled with cupcakes. I don't think I have ever seen so many cupcakes in one place. It was insane!
The best part of the whole day was the miniature train ride. We had to stand on line for at least 45 minutes before we could get on but the kids were so excited, I couldn't say no!
As soon as it was over, both Elizabeth and Zachary exclaimed, "Again!" I took one look at the line and said, "No". Instead we went exploring throughout Gateway. There were beautiful flowers and lots of shops to look at! Plus, I promised them we could get a yummy treat!
I had such a great day with my two little munchkins. I love getting out and doing something new. I am so grateful for the time that I have with Elizabeth and Zachary. I am one lucky mommy!

Days of '47 Parade Float Preview Party
Today we headed to the South Towne Expo Center for a sneak peak at all of the Days of '47 parade floats. We have been to this preview a couple of times in the past. I love this event because you can see all of the floats up close and, most of the time, you can talk to the designers and creators of each of the floats.
The kids loved the Farmington North Stake float. It had a moving Light Rail Train Car that you could see on each end of the float. The kids spent about 10 minutes running from end to end, trying to see the train. After seeing them all, Ashton said that this was his favorite float!
At one of the floats, the kids were able to pan for gold. Sydney and Ashton dug right in, while Elizabeth was not interested in getting dirty...until she found out candy was involved!
Zachary's favorite float was actually a tie. He really liked the Madagascar-themed float.
But...he also liked the pirate-themed float. He loved that they had dress-ups and "real" pirates to swordfight. Too Cute!
My favorite float had the cutest little sheep on it. Seriously, the wool going straight off the sheep onto the spinning wheel...love it!
Elizabeth's favorite float included a big banana split and candy. Surprise...Surprise! While at the float, the kids each earned a token that they got to put into a wishing well. The kids were so excited to be able to make a wish!
Sydney love the "Dreaming Full Steam Ahead" float. There were tons of animals on a fun train ride. She said it was her favorite because it had a dog on it!
After taking a ride on one of the floats, the kids got these hillarious lip-shaped whistles.
We also loved all of the Pioneer Day Youth Parade Floats. They were much smaller and had themes the kids really liked. It amazes me that these floats are made by volunteers and those called from Stakes throughout the state. It is incredible what people can do when they work together!
I am so glad that we were able to get out and enjoy this fun event together. It was great to have Sydney and Ashton join us for this fun tradition!
