Meet the Teacher Day

Today we were able to attend the Meet the Teacher event at Elizabeth's school. I am not gonna lie...I was extremely nervous for today. We have heard that there is one particular teacher that you DO NOT want as your child's teacher and I was scared to death. As we entered the school, I was saying prayers...then we say the class lists...I took a HUGE breath and looked for Elizabeth's name. 

Elizabeth is in Miss Yorke's Class. I could not be happier. I think I even shed some tears...stupid, I know but I really, really, really, wanted Elizabeth to get a teacher that would be a good fit for her. 

Next, we were off to see Elizabeth's classroom. Miss Yorke had a place set for each student, with a name tag, a homework folder, and a notebook.

Elizabeth looked so grown-up sitting at her desk with all of her class. I am so excited for Elizabeth and this new adventure. I know that she is going to love school...especially now that I know she has an amazing teacher!

I cannot believe that school starts in 4 days!

Kindergarten Assessment

Today Elizabeth had her Kindergarten Assessment. She was so excited to be able to go to her school. Once we arrived in the library and saw the teachers and other students...it hit me...Elizabeth is starting Kindergarten. I am so excited for her. I know that she will do great. She is an outgoing, fun-loving girl and I am sure that she will make a ton of new friends and will learn a bunch!

She did great on her assessment. She tried really hard to answer all of the questions. She was able to name all of the letters and some of their sounds. She was really good at counting but needs work on her math skills....but hey, if she already knew everything, she wouldn't need school!

Elizabeth, I am so proud of you! You are going to do great in school!

Soccer Game #3

Elizabeth had her third game of the Fall season today. She has been doing so great and we are so proud of her! Since we arrived a little early today, Elizabeth was able to get in a little practice with her coach and a couple of her teammates.

Elizabeth did such a good job of chasing the ball and looking for opportunities to kick. She is a little timid around all of the other kids, but I am sure that as she plays more she will gain more confidence!

Elizabeth was able to play a couple of positions today. At one point during the game, the coach put her in as the goalie.

For some of the game, she got to be a defender. She did a great job of staying on her teams side of the line and patiently waited for the ball to cross onto her side of the field before running after it.

Elizabeth even got to kick the ball in to start the play after halftime. It was an eventful game with lots of opportunities for Elizabeth. I am so proud of how hard she tries and for all of the things that she is learning. Go Elizabeth!

Back to School Night

Tonight was Back to School Night at Valley Crest Elementary. Elizabeth was so excited to be able to tour the school, see the playground, and meet the three Kindergarten teachers. We were able to vote on the PTA Board and filled out a bunch of paperwork. We also learned about the dress code and the drop off/pick up process.

I have to admit that after tonight it is started to feel real. I cannot believe that I have a Kindergartner!

Night Out Against Crime Carnival

Yesterday we attending our neighborhood Night Out Against Crime Carnival. It was incredible. I am so impressed with the amount of time and effort that those in our community dedicated in order to make this event such a success.

The first thing we noticed when we arrived was the huge firetruck with its' flashing lights and large ladder. Zachary was in heaven. He was so excited and immediately ran over to see it!

There were so many booths...it was amazing! There were booths with cotton candy, snow cones, and popcorn. There were at least 10 game booths. There were booths with information about neighborhood watches and community services. I was seriously impressed!

After walking around and checking everything out, we decided to get on the line for dinner. There were hamburgers and hot dogs with all of the fixin's, chips, salads, and drinks...not to mention brownies for dessert! Since the line was kinda long, we grabbed cotton candy for the kids to eat while we waited. All I can say is that Zachary LOVED it!

Seriously, he could not get enough! He even ended up with a cotton candy beard!

Grandma and Papa were able to join us and made it just in time for dinner. We were so glad that they were able to come!

After dinner, we got to watch a firefighter repel from the top of the extended firetruck ladder. It was pretty awesome. I definitely could not have done that...I am a big chicken!

Zachary was mesmerized as we watched the firefighter repelling.

Zachary could not get enough of the firetruck. He absolutely loved it and headed over to get a closer look every chance he could.

Next, we were off to play games.

As we walked around playing the different games, we discovered that there was a petting zoo. The kids were so excited and immediately ran over to see the rabbits, goats, chicks, pot-belly pigs, ducks, and geese.

We ended the night with a ride on the cow train.

What a fun night! I am so grateful for those that volunteered their time and talents to make this event happen. We had such a great time!

Elizabeth's Soccer Game #2

Today Elizabeth had another soccer game. I love watching her play. She is getting much more confident and seems to understand more of the rules each week. Today Elizabeth was able to do the opening kick-off that started the game!

I always have so much fun watching all of the kids running in a bunch while kicking at the ball. Elizabeth is usually pretty timid, but today she got in on the action quite a bit!

Elizabeth is becoming quite the power kicker. If she is able to get a clear shot at the ball, she can kick it really far!

I love how Elizabeth sticks out her tongue when she is really concentrating on something.

Grandma and Papa were able to make it to the game and did a great job of cheering for Elizabeth. Grandma was a good sport and even took Zachary for a walk.

I love how each team lines up and gives high fives when the game is over!

Elizabeth did so great today. We are so proud of her and how hard she works. She is always a good sport and tries her best. Go Eagles!
