We started off our visit with a train ride. Elizabeth was excited about the train, and we thought that it would be a good way to get an overview of the entire place. We discovered that the park is designed after what houses and buildings looked like when the pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in 1947. I loved all of the different textures and architectural details. Each and every building and house looked unique.
At each of the houses, we learned more about pioneer life and were able to participate in old-fashioned games, or activities. Elizabeth was able to wash laundry with a washboard and pail, hang the clothes on a clothesline, and even iron (with a wooden replica, of course!).
I about died when we entered this tiny cabin and learned that a man, his ten wives, and their children all shared this little space. I think my master bathroom is bigger than the entire cabin!
After walking around the village and looking in all of the different house, we decided that we would go on a wagon ride. Elizabeth loved the huge, white horses and was excited when they let her pet, and even ride on one.
Since we were all getting a bit hungry, we headed to the Huntsman Hotel for some hamburgers and fries. While the food wasn't great, and a bit over-priced, it was nice to be able to sit down and get out of the sun for a while.
After stopping to eat, my Mom and Dad took Elizabeth to the Petting Zoo. Elizabeth had a blast running all over the grounds and chasing all of the little sheep and goats.
Elizabeth also got to go for a few pony and horse rides. Don't you think she looks pretty miserable for a little girl that is riding a horse?

It was a real treat to spend the entire day with my Mom, my Dad, Elizabeth and Zachary. I am blessed to have such wonderful parents and such amazing little kids.
