Cupcakes and Colored Eggs!

This year, my Mom invited Elizabeth over, so that she could start a new family tradition. My Mom planned a day filled with cupcakes and coloring Easter Eggs. Elizabeth was so excited when she found out what grandma had planned. She was even more excited when she learned that MeMe would be joining us for some fun!

My Mom started the day with making cupcakes. Elizabeth is such a big helper and gets so excited when she is assigned a job to do. She loves to participate. First my Mom showed Elizabeth how to crack an egg and add it to the bowl.

Then, they stirred in all of the other ingredients and mixed them all together. Elizabeth did a great job at stirring. She was very careful and went slow so that the ingredients stayed in the bowl.

After placing the cupcake holders in the baking sheet, Elizabeth and Grandma used a measuring cup to fill the cups with the batter.

Elizabeth patiently waited while the cupcakes baked.

After the cupcakes cooled, it was time for frosting and sprinkles. I think this was Elizabeth's favorite part. Although, I don't know if more sprinkles ended up on the cupcakes...or in Elizabeth's mouth!

Elizabeth also had her first experience with dying Easter Eggs. She had so much fun and would have dyed a billion if we had that many. She loved guessing what color the egg was going to be after it sat in the cup for a while. Elizabeth was a great decision-maker on whether or not the egg needed to soak in the color for longer, or if it was ready to come out.

I do have to say that I think Elizabeth's first attempt at coloring eggs was a great success! Her eggs look great. Thanks Grandma, for such a fun-filled day. We cannot wait until next year!
